I’m temporarily laid off from work starting Monday for an unknown amount of time, I get max unemployment for NYS. Can I sell stuff I own on ebay etc to make some extra money or does that fuck over my unemployment? I’m not a business just myself. Wasn’t sure how that all works
Income is income. Even theft is income for the IRS purposes and they note you must report income you gained from theft unless you returned the stolen items within the same tax year. There are tax breaks for write-downs for businesses for moving things at a loss but I don’t think the same applies to private individuals selling their stuff though I am not a lawyer and I am not a tax specialist.
