That’s a heavy subject.
I know it’s not popular and I’m typically against it but I was listening to a podcast and it made me think there are absolutely important communities that shouldn’t be on a centralised platform like Reddit. The contents of them are so important that it should be on the Open Social Web.
I totally agree.
I don’t see any reason why we can’t have Reddit mirrors, especially for the really important stuff, if they are marked as such, in the same way that Lemmy accounts can mark themselves as bot accounts.
People are welcome not to subscribe to them if they don’t want to see that content, but having the content be on Lemmy only helps Lemmy grow stronger, by allowing Reddit users to migrate over to Lemmy.
Plus, the important stuff is not lost, if a corporation shits their bed.
I was trying to find some medicine today and realised I need a better system to organise what I have and know what I don’t have. Currently, everything is kind of thrown into a drawer.
I have a specific container (blue tupperware-like food bucket with a thin silver handle, that has holes in it for ventilation, and is normally used for holding vegetables and such in the kitchen) for my medicines.
Inside of the container is divided with a piece of cardboard into two zones, one zone for one set of medicines that I taken at one time of the day, and another set that I take at another time.
I find this a lot easier while at home than having to constantly refill pill boxes, and I only use pill boxes for when I’m traveling.
As far as ordering new stuff, I try to keep one extra of every medicine that I have, and when I finish one medicine and I’m opening the next bottle of that same medicine, that’s the time I call the pharmacy and order a replacement. On the fly inventory management basically. I store these extra meds in a bag that also goes into the blue container. The fact that they are in a bag separates them from my other medicines, it’s my inventory area.

I ended up being a much better person because of it.
The post’s photo conversation seems like feedback moreso than complaining. 🤷
What happened to “You’re welcome!” as a response to “Thank You”? It’s not even included the one canned answers on an apple watch. Have we as a society abandoned it? I hear “No problem” far more often.
I’ve used both equally. “Thank you!” when I’m more appreciative about what was gifted/helped, and “No problem” when I just wish to be courteous and acknowledge, or I’m indifferent to, the aid that was given me.
I was late for work, and I had forgotten to brush my teeth. So I ran into the sundry shop to buy a roll of Lifesavers, and she was behind the counter.
Little did I know at the time, but she would save my life in a lot more ways than just by making my breath smell better.

It’s not just an entertaining read, it’s a valuable resource to look at to determine if mods in certain communities are over-moderating.
Agree. Honestly that’s where I find the entertainment from, actually looking at how the mods actually do their moderating, the kind of reasons why they give.
It’s interesting to compare the moderation that happens between the different communities too.

The filtering would had to be more sophisticated, instead of an age by date, maybe an age by number of posts within an amount of time, etc.
But astroturfers/bots can work with that too, to a certain extent.

This is urgently needed for the upcoming elections.
The only problem though is a lot of time astroturfers/bots create accounts and then just let them sit idle for 6-9 months before using them.

But at the end of the day, how do you truly know, either way?
Especially when people don’t label it as such with a /s.

I absolutely love the mod log. Some days I just read through that instead of the regular Lemmy posts.
The only problem with blocking is they still see your comments you make, and can respond to them negatively, and you have no way of defending yourself because you haven’t seen their comment.
My wish would be for blocking to prevent those who are blocked from reading comments from the blocker.
When we finally figure out and understand, in a real world mechanical sort of way, quantum mechanics, all bets will be off.
It’ll open up a new perspective on the Universe (dare I say Metaverse?), and where we fit in with everything.
