Keep in mind though that Lemmy is very much still in open beta while Reddit has been a mature product for years now. Lemmy only started federating like two years ago, and even compared to other Fediverse platforms Lemmy is still very new. Most of the “must have” features people associate with Reddit took a while to materialize as well, in fact when Reddit launched it didn’t have subreddits or even nested comments on posts. Not saying your grievances are invalid, but give it time and things will improve as Lemmy gets more development.

Worse, I see this with Fediverse platforms like Lemmy. During the initial Reddit influx so many people expected the exact level of polish and user experience as Reddit and there were tons of threads (on Lemmy itself) basically complaining how much Lemmy “sucks” compared to Reddit, despite them coming over to Lemmy because Reddit was being enshitified. Same with Mastodon when the Twitter people were coming over.

Not religious nor an expert on this, but as far as I know:

“Taking the Lord’s Name in Vain” is the technical term in Christianity for using words that refer to God/Jesus in any context that isn’t directly referring to them, which is considered a form of blasphemy. The majority of Christians, Catholics especially, believe that even expressions like “oh my god!” or exclaiming “Jesus!” when surprised constitute taking the Lord’s name in vain, or as is what is happening here, where you use Jesus for something unrelated to him. And the bible does make it very clear that blasphemy is worse than literally any other sin.

  • I like it because I don’t have any of the company’s shit on my own machine. I absolutely don’t trust them not to spy on my personal computer use if they had access to it. With remote desktop I close it at the end of the work say and it has no more access to my computer than I have access to their critical systems.

In my case, their shit that we’re required to use don’t even support Linux so if it wasn’t for virtualized environment I’d had to install Windows on my own machine.
