  • Fair. I was thinking if a loaf of bread sized battery could run my car for 100 miles, I would have zero range anxiety. Make them easily swappable so people no longer charge their battery on road trips, they just drive up to a station, swap, and continue on their way. Maybe with an extra loaf or two in the trunk if going far from stations.

Storage size and longevity aren’t as important to me once it becomes dense enough I can carry all I need for a day in my purse.

    1. I hand out upvotes by vibes. I don’t have rules or philosophy on it, I just upvote when I feel like. One day I might upvote a comment while the next day I wouldn’t.

    2. No, I would not use a tipping functionality. And it would probably turn me off from commenting. I could see people jockeying for tips affecting the quality and volume of comments. I’m also getting tired of grind / side hustle culture. We don’t need to monetize everything we do. Sometimes I do a thing for value other than monetary.

It’s fine as a one sentence guideline for small children to get them to think how others are affected by their actions. A first step in formation of their values and civic participation.

If you’re an adult whose moral framework stops at the Golden Rule and who expects the world to follow the Golden Rule, I have a bridge and a cutting-edge new AI model to sell you.

  • Yep. Failed a semester of school. Lost a relationship. Lost a job. Nothing about it was fun or relaxing.

I remember one day being so tired I couldn’t even tell if I needed to use the bathroom and being so disoriented I wasn’t sure if I was actually walking to the bathroom or was just thinking about walking. Frequent disassociation. “Foggy” doesn’t cover it, it was like concrete was poured around my mind and body and it was slowly setting.

  • Well, my cousin got a mild case of alpha-gal from a tick bite. He can no longer eat red meat but can still eat dairy.

He was always a huge asshole to his vegetarian sister. Like, sneaking animal products into her food and making her sick level of asshole. He was also a, “Real men eat red meat for every meal! Rawr! Women sense my alpha man manliness! Vegetables and healthy bowel movements are for sissies!” type bundle of insecurity and cringe.

So alpha-gal isn’t enjoyable for him, but it sure is for his sister.

I think it’s what you do with it.

My brother got an engineering degree, decided it wasn’t for him, and is now a decently successful photographer. I got an engineering degree and have used it every day of my career so far.

My friend got an MBA and jokes about how worthless it is for her but how happy she is in a life that doesn’t require an MBA. My colleague has an MBA and uses it in his finance job all the time.

Anyone who looks down on another person for their degree, or lack of a degree, needs to mind their own business. Get some hobbies. Invest some time and joy in their own life so they don’t have to be such sour fun-haters about other people.
