Ubuntu 22.04 server. It works well enough for my purposes and until it doesn’t I don’t see a reason to switch distros.

Walternate from Fringe. Absolutely beautifully acted and exactly what I’d expect from a man who had his child abducted from a parallel version of himself.
As a network engineer I use this frequently to figure out where latency is coming from. +1 for mtr
It may be overkill, but I run all my network traffic in a VM. I never load my client before I turn on the VPN, and make sure to use the kill switch functionality. There’s a step by step that should be followed for every time to remain secure in what you are downloading or uploading.
Most consumer routers will be nowhere close to 10Gbps… so yeah.
I sat dumbfounded for like 5 minutes. Highly recommend it.
SOMA left me questioning my own consciousness, what it is to be human, and loneliness.
I saw Independence Day 3 times in the theater.
Damn. Asking the real questions
It helped me pick out a Christmas gift for my wife. She said it was the most thoughtful gift she had ever gotten.
I just follow the Mr. PeanutButter philosophy on life at this point
“The universe is a cruel, uncaring void. The key to being happy isn’t a search for meaning. It’s to just keep yourself busy with unimportant nonsense, and eventually, you’ll be dead”
Basically stop thinking so deeply about the enigmas you will never understand and try to enjoy the small things in life. A walk in a park. Helping someone less fortunate. Cooking a good meal, etc.
Whenever someone mentions Starbucks, I bring up how when I worked there they allowed us to take tips. They don’t anymore, so you’re paid minimum wage (or there about), which is not enough to live on in most cities. They’ve changed tremendously and without unions backing their baristas, they are no better than any other fast food restaurant (which also should be unionized).
Our school computer lab had Mac LC II computers. On them they installed a software called “Foolproof” which would prevent users from making any changes to the system outside of specific directories, iirc. I realized it was a system extension by reading the helpfiles on the computer, and that you could disable all extensions by rebooting and holding the shit key on startup.
The guy who ran the computer lab was not too happy that a 10 year old figured all this out.
So you’re saying we should do nothing, or?
More drastic suggestions will become common in the next few years. We won’t stop BAU, so logically geoengineering comes next
Sadly I think you are right. We have to stop the warming or slow it down somehow. Considering we are never going to stop the wheels of civilization, people won’t stop driving, won’t stop eating meat, and otherwise won’t accept a decrease in their standard of living, it leaves us no alternatives.
We either geoengineer our way out of this mess, or we die.
Imagine you got poop on your arm and decided to wipe it away with toilet paper. You know there’s still poop on it. The same thing goes for your butt. Clean your butt!
Yeah, well it works for me.
