I mean by all accounts Artifact was actually a great game if you wanted a digital CCG. Deadlock is going the Dota route of making all gameplay content free, I’m sure there will be a skin market but that’s irrelevant to me, and the game is already very fun. I trust the Valve/Dota balance team far more than any other similar game’s, so I really don’t see what could derail it from at least moderate success at this point.

Oh god, survival crafting games were a dime a dozen back then. Though I am eagerly awaiting the 1.0 release of Satisfactory next month so clearly I never got my fill :p

W1 still has probably the best writing and script of any of the three games. I definitely prefer the third for gameplay but W1 is just an artifact of the awkward time it came out, when there was a lot less consensus on how 3rd person action games controlled.

Myst is certainly a bit of an odd one. There are more modern versions with full 3d graphics, and some of the puzzles are all time classics, but Riven was always the better game. There’s a remake of that one which just came out, though it also doesn’t hold your hand as far as figuring out what to do.

When combined with sed, sure, but the difficulty ratings should be swapped.

OpenTTD is fantastic. The graphics might give new players pause, but if you like building networks or logistical puzzles, or just like trains, it’s still one of the best in the genre.

BAR is great – Total Annihilation was always one of my favorite games from childhood and BAR feels the most like it compared to other spiritual successors like SupCom/FA and other community projects. I actually tried to contribute a couple commits to the project but I don’t think they took them.

It’s not open source, but I do want to mention Barotrauma here – it’s not totally unheard of, but I don’t think many people realize that it’s a spiritual successor to SS13. Supports a lot less players, but still up to 12 or something on the bigger ships, and it manages to turn the absolute insanity of SS13 into a compelling survival game that still has plenty of goofiness.

Hugging, definitely. No playful wrestling since high school, and what there was there was definitely more motivated by competition and testosterone than affection.

As for snuggling, I wouldn’t want to snuggle with anyone that I didn’t have at least some sexual attraction to, unless I was in serious emotional distress and just needed it for the reversion to childhood. So I don’t snuggle with guys. I don’t know of many straight women who snuggle with their platonic friends either, beyond like sharing a blanket for a movie.

Honorable mentions for Guilty Gear and Tekken as series, and I have a special place in my heart for the 2000 title Sacrifice, which is my eternal top pick for a remaster/remake.

GitHub (since the Microsoft acquisition) is good to users because that’s their MO, it’s called Embrace, Extend, Extinguish, and the whole point is to centralize users and projects and make them dependent on the Microsoft ecosystem.

Of course now there’s also the whole issue of Copilot, which means any code you put on GitHub could very well show up piecemeal in someone’s AI-generated code. If it wasn’t for that novel avenue of monetization, you can bet your ass GitHub would have already made the free user experience a lot shittier.

Stop using GitHub. Especially if you’re working on anything that corpo interests will frown on, but just generally, there are plenty of alternatives (both git and non-git) that aren’t owned by Microsoft.

Every device with extra swappable batteries that I’ve used has a charging station that you can just keep the extra battery in. Not really anything to “manage”, it just effectively removes charging time from the equation.
